2020-2021 SEASON ONE

Great to be back coaching this sport.  We're making herstory here at Sumner High School, home of the Stingrays!  I have high hopes for this first season as we won the first game we ever played, 18-0, in an AAU tournament in the Fall, 2020

2021 MOST MEMORABLE MOMENTS:  I would have to say the most memorble moment was the season opener.  Our season did not start well.  Everything seemed to be going great until the beginning of the third week of the season.  The whole team was quarantined for a week because of COVID.  This meant we also missed the Bucs Preseason.  Those two games would have helped fix some issues not evident until the season began.  It also meant we had one day of practice when we returned, followed by 5 games in 3 days.  We went 2-3.

2021 SEASON OPENER: The quarantine really hurt, evident in 3 quarters of play against Plant City Raiders.  The Raiders were up 6-0 going into the 4th quarter.  A change in QBs got our offense moving.  Aniya Bethea threw a TD to Jewel Harwell, and a second TD to Britney Beals to give us a 12-6 win!

2021 SEASON RANKINGS:  We finished the season ranked #109 on Maxpreps.com in the combined 1A and 2A poll (261 teams), and #41 in the 1A poll (119 teams).

2021-2022 Season

We finally got to do the Bucs Preseason.  We went 2-0, winning 25-0 against Liberty and 20-0 against Palm Harbor!  A great start!  Then up and down in the regular season.  Overall, a disappointing season, going 5-11.  According to FHSAA, we had the toughest schedule in the state.  We ranked #97 at the end of the season out of 287 teams, ranked much highter than many with winning seasons, solely because of our strength of schedule.

2022 MOST MEMORABLE MOMENTS: The most memorable was going to the Capital City Classic in Tallahassee and finanally winning some games.  We went 3-0, won the Bronze Bracket trophy, and avenged the season opening loss to East Bay in the championship game.

2022 SEASON OPENER: After going 2-0 in the preaseason, I expected to win this game handily.  When the game plan isn't followed and the other team is amped to play, the result was a loss, 6-7.

2022 SEASON RANKINGS: Final MaxPrep ranking was #97 (287 teams, combined 1A and 2A).  #63 out of 144 for 2A.
